Leading Equity and Justice in STEM for Multilingual Learners

Okhee Lee was among the first to recognize that the educational silos around science/STEM education and language education were not serving students, especially multilingual learners. Today, Okhee advocates for the integration of science/STEM education and language education across research, policy, and practice. Through this integration, Okhee calls for the future of science/STEM education and offers a framework for achieving equity and justice. Based on her decades of research, experience as a member of the writing team for the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and leader of the NGSS Diversity and Equity team, and trailblazing analysis of English language proficiency/development standards, Okhee has developed curriculum and professional development programs and instructional resources that support teachers in implementing contemporary science standards with all students.
